Keep your wild swim essentials safe, dry, and ready for adventure with the Stravaig Trinkie Zip Bag - named after The Trinkie - the iconic outdoor tidal swimming pool carved into the rocks on the coast at Wick, Caithness. For generations it's been a beloved gathering spot for local swimmers, families (including our own), and wild swimming enthusiasts - offering a unique place to swim in the North Sea, sheltered from the open waves but still feeling the chill and thrill of the Scottish waters. For many, The Trinkie represents the spirit of Scottish outdoor adventure: resilient, welcoming, and always up for a dip - no matter the weather. This bag is a little piece of Stravaig history and a nod to our very first wild swimming spot as children.

Crafted from rugged 0.5mm 500D PVC tarpaulin, this bag is designed to handle Scotland’s wildest weather and keep your swim hat, goggles, and valuables protected from splashes, sand, and rain. The waterproof zip closure and welded seams offer reliable protection, whether you’re lakeside, lochside, or on the move.

Your Questions

Stravaig Trinkie Zip Bag FAQs

Can dry bags be submerged?

Dry bags are designed to keep your kit dry in rain, splashes, and wet boats/boards and quick submersion - but they’re not meant to be fully submerged underwater.
If a dry bag is held underwater (or dropped in a loch), water can seep in over time, especially around the roll-top closure. For best results, roll the top down tightly (at least 3 times) and clip it shut.

Do dry bags float?

They can float, but it’s not guaranteed in every situation - and they shouldn’t be used as a flotation device.
A dry bag will usually float if there’s trapped air inside and the contents aren’t too heavy. If it’s packed with heavy kit (shoes, lots of waterlogged gear) or you’ve squeezed most of the air out, it may sit low in the water or sink.
To give it the best chance of floating:
Roll the top down tight (3+ rolls) and clip it shut
Leave a bit of air inside
Don’t overload it with very heavy items

What size of dry bag should I get?

To help answer this, the below guide is what our customers have used the different bag sizes for:
5L dry bag: best for phone, keys, wallet, snacks, small towel, swim hat/gloves
10L dry bag: fits a towel poncho or small towel, spare layers, flip flops, plus bits and bobs
20L dry bag: great for bulkier kit like a changing robe, bigger towel/poncho, extra clothes, and post-swim layers (ideal for full wild swimming kit)
Trinkie mini dry bag (accessories): ideal for goggles, keys, phone, cards/cash, snacks and other small bits you want to keep together and dry.
